This is a guideline for preparation of a device in your lab before putting it into service at customer site.

Preparing the config in your own lab

Often technicians prefer to prepare the configuration in their own lab instead of doing it on customer site. Here are some hints for this procedure.

Before you start, we strongly recommend that you should keep your filled out https://class.innovaphone.com/moodle-debug/pix/f/excel.gif Excel questionnaire at hand. Talk to the customer beforehand so you can have the information before you start the Install.

Network settings

Before you start the Install we recommend to set up a dedicated network in your lab using the same IP-range and addresses as they are going to be on customer site. This could be easily achieved if you are going to use a separate DHCP and DNS-server that provides the same IP-addresses and DNS-names as on customer site. As DHCP/DNS-server you could use an innovaphone device. Lucky you because you already have such a device: your IP411Right.

Download its config and replace any occurrence of 172.3x.x.x (depends on your trainings subnet) with the customer subnet. Afterwards go to Services/DNS/Hosts (individual device UI) and screenshot.png adjust the DNS-host entries to match the customer requirements. In case you are reading this book long after your training and don't want to reinstall your training setup, you can download the IP411Right config also here https://class.innovaphone.com/moodle-debug/pix/f/folder.gif Configs for Lesson on Setting up the Trainee Network. If the customer plans to use DHCP for the IP-assignment, you can create the DHCP-Server leases for your customer PBX and App-Platform in screenshot.png IP4/ETH/Leases.

E-mail address of first user

It’s important to use an Email address for the admin account you can access. In the best case scenario you should have the customers admin email-account credentials, but if you are not allowed to use it (i.e. answer verification mails) you can use your own email-address and change it later in the UserAdmin App.

Domain names

During the Install you'll be asked for the DNS name of this PBX and DNS name of the App Platfrom. Please use the appropriate names you decided to use with the customer. If you click Next in this dialogue the Install will try to do a DNS lookup for your configured domain names. If it fails your configured domain names will be marked red. If you click Next once again the Install will proceed but in a DNS-less mode. This mode is not recommended to prepare the config in the lab. Rather try to fix your DNS Server and configure the correct DNS entries.

E-mail configuration

During the Email-Account configuration of the Install page you need to configure the DNS name of the SMTP-Server and the email account to use for sending verification mails. Ideally you use the customer SMTP server and account. However, in rare cases, the customer doesn’t allow “authenticated SMTP connections” from outside his LAN or you do not have access to the target E-Mail system. In this case, you can disable the page and the E-Mail test configuration and test will be screenshot.png skipped.

After the Install

If you want, you can already use the Devices App to add phones and other gateways to your domain. The registration/provisioning of phones or other interfaces (through PBX-Manager plugins) is already possible.

To do at the customer site

Network settings

In case you need to use a static IP address at the PBX you can change the mode of your ethernet interface after the Install in the advanced UI screenshot.png IP4/Eth0/DHCP. If you set the interface to static please make sure you configured a valid IP address, network mask, default gateway and DNS server at screenshot.png IP4/Eth0/IP.

Of course if you change the ethernet interface from dhcp client to static, make sure the device has a valid NTP server to get the correct time. This can be configured in the advanced UI screenshot.png Services/NTP.

If you want to change the network settings of your local App Platfrom you can do this through your advanced UI as well. Just go to screenshot.png App Platform/IP and change the settings accordingly.

On customer site you need to check if HTTP-access to the store-URL (store.innovaphone.com) is possible. Therefore go to the screenshot.png Update-section of the customer domain in Devices and check if the Firmware-Json URL and Apps-Json URLs are reachable. If there is no error message everything is fine.

E-mail address of first user

If you used your private Email-account for the admin account, don’t forget to change the Email-Address for the Admin account in the UserAdmin App.

Domain names

If you go to the customer site after you set up the system without DNS, please make sure the same DNS entries you used in the lab, exist at the customers DNS server.

E-mail configuration

If you didn’t use the customer SMTP-server during Install, change the SMTP configuration on customer site via the video2.png Apps – App (Settings/SMTP) and also on your PBX at screenshot.png PBX/Config/Authentication. To double check that everything is fine, use an myApps account to login and check if the verification email is received.
