More Information

Problem Details

Often it is wanted to play a custom sound as music on hold. For example a radio station will play their radio program while being on hold or a custom music should played from a mp3-player.

Solution

Within the AUX-interface of the IP21 there is the possibility to implement an external sound just by connecting a source like a mp3-player or a pc’s sound output device with the AUX interface of the IP21.

Configuration

Single PBX

Configure the PBX (e.g. IP800):

  • Define a gateway object called AUXMOH
  • Go to /PBX/General/ and configure the string e.g. AUXMOH in the field External Music On Hold

Configure the IP21:

  • Go to /Gateway/Interfaces/AUX and configure the interface registration mode as H.323.
  • Configure the interface name AUXMOH
  • Enable the MOH-mode.
  • Enter as Gatekeeper address the ip-address of the PBX.

Multiple PBXs

Configure the PBX (e.g. IP800):

  • Go to /PBX/General/ and configure the string e.g. AUXMOH in the field External Music On Hold

Configure the IP21:

  • Go to /Gateway/Interfaces/AUX and configure the interface registration mode as H.323.
  • Configure the interface name AUX.
  • Enable the MOH-mode.
  • Enter as Gatekeeper address the local ip-address 127.0.0.1.
  • Go to /Gateway/VOIP/ and configure an interface registration mode as Gatekeeper/Registrar
  • Configure the interface Alias name AUX

--> this interface is used by the AUX-interface configured above to register on

  • Configure for each ‘’PBX’’ an interface with registration mode Register as Gateway and as gatekeeper address the ip-address of the PBX
  • Configure the interface alias name AUXMOH

--> these interfaces getting registered in the PBX.

  • At least configure a route from all on the PBX registered interfaces/gateways to the interface/gateway of the type Gatekeeper/Registrar --> every call will be routed to the AUX interface now.

Known issues / Additional information

  • It's important the MOH-mode flag has been enabled, otherwise only one MOH at the same time is possible.
  • You need a channel license for the IP21. If you have no Channel License you get the cause 44. Channel not available.
