Howto:Requirements for a Server to install and run IXI UMS

Quite often the requirements necessary to install an IXI UMS Software Package are unknown and especially the rights of the user to install and run the service are something usually extremely necessary to discuss with the customers Administrator.

Please note that innovaphone does only sell IXI UMS including one day on site installation,
except you have already enough experience to do so yourselves. (i.e. you are a Servonic Partner)

Office 2000 ore higher (for Server rendering!)

Note: All applications which shall be sent out via Fax have to be installed on that server!
(i.e. if you want to fax a pdf-document, you of course need to have the an Acrobat Reader installed on this machine,
as ixi uses the application associated with the file extension to render the documents)

Hardware Requirements:

min. 1 GB - for bigger installations (more than 400 users) you should plan 0.25 MB disk space per user and announcement!

Processor for installations with 4 channels : 800 MHz

Installation

To install and run the system you need to install the System with a DOMAIN ADMIN Account. (recommendation: Copy the build-in Administrator and change the password to "never expire")

For the UMS Mobile function you will have to install an SMTP Connector on the exchange Server and to use the read – unread function of the system the user being used to install the IXI UMS must have full access rights on the Exchange Container for the private Mailboxes. (For sending and receiving faxes and Voicemails only an SMTP connector will be used. So there will be usually no problems with the customers are to be expected ;-) )

Known Problems

IXI UMS License is language sensitive! Please check which language version of the operation system your customer is running to be sure to obtain the correct license!

Some customers want to save money on the necessary hardware and try to run as many applications on the same hardware. In general this is no problem with one exception:

Using the innovaphone applications, you can run the following combinations on one single server:

IXI UMS, IXI Call, Meta Directory and SAMwin

and

innovaphone MRS, IXI Call, Meta Directory and SAMwin

You can NEVER run innovaphone MRS and IXI UMS on the same Hardware. (except using different virtual machines or so…)
