For certain call types (such as fax, modem or transparent data), it is important for both ends to keep time with each other. To make sure a number of gateways are always in sync, you may configure a common clock source here. For this to work well, you should use a device as clock source that has a stable clock itself, e.g. a gateway that is synchronized to a public ISDN interface. Also, make sure the Interval is sufficiently short (that is, you should keep the default of 1 second).

You can use just any NTP server with a stable clock as clock source.

This clock source is not used to set the system time, use the NTP Configuration for this.
