== Settings ==
Most of the configuration of myPBX for Android in the config screen is identical to the one of the desktop telephone IP222. Instead of the device settings you will find the app settings, which are specific to Android.

==== Start automatically ====
This setting controls automatic start up of myPBX for Android. Note that incoming calls are only indicated if the app is started and either visible or closed via short press of the back button. If it has been stopped via the "Exit" button in the settings screen or long press on the back button, incoming calls are not indicated.

- "If connected to WiFi": The app starts up automatically if connectivity changes to WiFi. It shuts down if connectivity changes to other than WiFi to make sure that it doesn't generate charges due to mobile data traffic. This is the default.

- "If mobile data/WiFi available": It starts up automatically if there is connectivity through WiFi or mobile data. Note that this may generate charges due to mobile data traffic.

- "Always": It starts up automatically if the smartphone is booted and remains running.

- "Never": It never starts up automatically. If telephone functions are needed myPBX for Android must be started manually by click on its app icon.

==== Use myPBX to dial ====
These are the options in which situation myPBX for Android takes responsibility for dialing if a call is started from another application on the smartphone, e.g. the contacts. The options are

- "Always ask": Let Android present a list to the user to choose the dialer. This is the default.

- "Never": myPBX for Android never acts as dialer.

- "For internal calls": Internal calls are dialed.

- "For all calls": Responsibility as dialer is taken for all calls.

- "In WiFi": Responsibility as dialer is taken for all calls if connectivity is through WiFi. Without WiFi it's up to the GSM dialer to dial the call. This option is useful if there is a quota on the mobile data traffic.

==== GSM use ====
These are the options in which situation a call initiated in myPBX for Android is deferred to the GSM dialer of the smartphone. The options are

- "Never": myPBX for Android dials all calls itself and presents "no channel available" if the registration is not up. This is the default.

- "If registering isn't possible": Calls are deferred to GSM if the registration is not up, i.e. if no WiFi or mobile data connectivity exists.

- "Always for external calls": External calls are deferred to GSM.

- "For all calls": All calls are deferred to the GSM dialer.

- "If not connected to WiFi": myPBX for Android dials all calls itself only if connectivity is through WiFi. Without WiFi all calls are deferred to the GSM dialer.

The last three options are useful if the WiFi or mobile data performance is not good enough for VoIP or if there is a quota on the mobile data traffic. Then the directory and presence information is still available and the calls use the GSM network.

==== Hang up with docking station ====
If the smartphone is used with a docking or charging station this option enables automatic call acceptance if the smartphone is lift from the dock and call disconnection if it is put back to the dock. Keep this setting off if the smartphone might be plugged for re-charging during a call as plugging would disconnect the call. The default of this setting if "off".

==== Auto-rotate screen ====
Keep this setting on if you want myPBX to automatically react to orientation changes.

==== Display brightness in docking station ====
This setting is useful in conjunction with a docking or charging station on the desk. It lets the smartphone keep its screen on while it is put in the station.

- "Display off": The smartphone doesn't keep its screen on when it is in the docking station. This is the default.

- "Dimmed": The smartphone keeps its screen on with lower brightness while it is in the docking station. Be careful with this setting as the screen of some smartphones may suffer if the same content is displayed for long periods even if it's not bright.

- "Bright": The smartphone keeps its screen bright while it is in the docking station. Be careful with this setting as the screen of some smartphones may suffer if the same content is displayed bright for long periods. They may show signs of burn-in afterwards.

==== Permit CallLog Deletes ====
myPBX for Android keeps the call log of GSM calls and calls in myPBX in sync. Every WLAN call log entry is duplicated to the GSM call log and every GSM call log entry is duplicated to the myPBX call log. This makes sure that all calls are shown in both logs. If an entry is deleted from the GSM call log it's also deleted in the myPBX call log. The other way requires that myPBX for Andoid deletes entries from the GSM call log. This is only done if the option "Permit CallLog Deletes" is enabled. During the beta phase do not enable it if the GSM call log is critical.

==== Audio API ====
Allows to select a specific API for audio streaming. On early Android versions this might be necessary to work around limitations. Options are:

- "Default": myPBX Android chooses the appropriate API according to the Android version of the smartphone.

- "Java": Selects the Java audio API which is available from the very beginning of Android but has been superseded by more efficient APIs.

- "OpenSL ES": Selects OpenSL ES which is an API available since Android 2.3 on most devices. It's stated to be most efficient for voice streaming.

- "RTP": Selects the direct RTP API available since Android 3.1. It doesn't support G.722 for HD Audio.

- "Default (*)", "Java (*)", "OpenSL ES (*)" select the respective API plus a workaround needed for a few old Android devices.

- "Java 48kHz", "OpenSL ES 48 kHz" select the respective API with playback sample rate 48 kHz. This may reduce the audio delay on some devices but puts extended requirements on the execution of the audio thread in myPBX for Android.

==== WLAN MAC Address ====
Starting with Android 6.0 the operating system doesn't disclose the real WLAN MAC address to an application any more. It pretends on all devices that it's 020000000000. In this case myPBX for Android assumes a random value based on the timestamp at installation of the app. This might be overwritten e.g. with the real value that is still shown in the Android settings app.

==== Save log ====
Starts and stops saving a debug trace on the smartphone. To get the trace connect the smartphone via USB to the PC and locate the file

==== Send logs via e-mail ====
Prepares an e-mail that contains all log files from
Android/data/com.innovaphone.phoneandroid/files/
ready to send after a support ticket has been opened at innovaphone. Please insert the ticket number in the e-mail subject line prior to sending it.

== Update ==
Install the new version via Google Play or via WEB browser on the smartphone from the link published by innovaphone or via WEB interface Maintenance/Upload/Firmware from a PC.

A seamless downgrade is not possible on Android 4.1 and later. However it is possible via a fresh installation of the app:

- Save the present configuration via WEB interface Maintenance/Download/Config/download

- Uninstall the app from the smartphone

== Taking traces ==
innovaphone always works on improving myPBX for Android and making it as stable as possible on every Android device. If there is a problem please try to capture a trace by turning trace logging on (Settings/App settings/Save log). Re-do the steps to reproduce the problem. Stop logging and get the trace files from
Android/data/com.innovaphone.phoneandroid/files/
or send them by e-mail (Settings/App settings/Send logs via e-mail).

On Android 4.1 or later unexpected halts of an app cannot be traced sophisticatedly by the app itself. If an unexpected halt was encountered please induce a trace report from the Android system:

- Press and hold down all these at the same time: Power + Volume up + Volume down. You will need to hold these down for a couple of seconds then release. You may need a few tries to get it right. When this is done you will feel a short series of vibrations, and then see a Bug report captured in your notifications drop down. Tap on that notification to send the bug report using email.

- Choose to complete the action with Gmail (or any other email client you see).

- Set the email to support@innovaphone.com and add the innovaphone support ticket number in the subject line.

If there are Android problems in 3G / 4G which do not occur in the WLAN, you can still create with our trace options pcaps.

1. myPBX app under "Settings" -> "Web Configuration". In our webGUI (For my Android 6.0.1 only with chrome usable not with the Android browser (easy chrome open and

myPBX for Android supports the ring tones of the Android operating system. Please refer to the Android documentation on how to add ring tones if desired. Note that the smartphone may need to be shut down and rebooted to make the new ring tones available to apps like myPBX for Android.

==More Information==

Voice Recording is an application which is designed to run as user gui and not as Service. In most cases Innovaphone Voice Recording 2014 is installed on a Windows Server OS und should run as a service. Running the application as a service simplify the maintenance by restarting, logon, logoff the user or server. In other words it is the standard for such an application.

This article describes step by step how to install and configure a part of the PBX and especially the Windows Server System to run the whole recorder or http player as a service with additional audio compression to mp3.

==Installation==

===PBX Preparation===

We start by the pbx. First of all we generate a new dummy user, who has at least ''Groups/Call Forwards Only''rights. In our case the user called <code>_RECORDING_</code>. We also add a new group with "active" flag, in our case called "record".

Users who should be recorded by server should also be within the group, without active flag.

Because the Voice Recording 2014 is adjusting the recorded pcap with the CDR ticket, a working reporting must be running and for each user a reporting license is required.

===Windows Feature===

In our case we use a state of the art Windows Server 2012r2 OS. Out of the box Windows Server 2012r2 do not support audio media features. Especially if you also need to run the client software "Innovaphone Player" to hear te recorded data it is strongly recommended to install the feature. So we talk about the feature "Media Foundation" which must be added to the server. For this open the "Add Roles and Feature Wizard", progress to the "Feature", scrolldown an select "Media Foundation" and complete the feature installation.

===Folder and Recording preparation===
Download and install the latest version of [http://download.innovaphone.com/ice/10.00/#recording innovaphone Voice Recording 2014], extract it and install it in the standard program path. After that you should have files named <code>innovaphone_Recorder.exe</code> and <code>pcap2wave.exe</code> located in the installation directory.

Create a new directory (for example <code>RecordingInnovaphone\Recorder</code>) on the local drive. Important: The name should not have any " " (blanks), otherwise later the service registration will fail. So in our case the new path is called <code>C:\RecordingInnovaphone\Recorder</code>. Create now a subdirectory called <code>data</code> in this directory.
Copy now both installation files <code>innovaphone_Recorder.exe</code> and <code>pcap2wave.exe</code> (If you want to use ''Audio compression to mp3'' those files also should be placed here) from the program path to the new created recorder path. The data folder should be empty.

Write now a new batch-file named <code>open_setup_recorder.bat</code>. And write down the following line:

innovaphone_Recorder.exe recpath=C:\RecordingInnovaphone\Recorder\data\

As described above the "recpath" should not have any blanks inside the path. Believe it, it will not work later. This batch-file is important to change settings for the recorder. To start the setup for the recorder, it always must be started with this file. The "normal" <code>innovaphoneRecorder.exe</code> should not be touched.

Double-click the created batch.file <code>open_setup_recorder.bat</code>. First time, it can take a while, anyway you should see after a short time the usual setup window.

Important is, that the check-box ''Save setup in own directory'' must not be checked ! Other settings can be changed like you want.

After you finish all settings in your recorder, push the button "Save+Stop!" and start the batch-file again. Verify that all LED on the GUI are green.

Extract it and save it to a destination of your choice. NSSM is not a programm which needs to be installed, more a tool to create new services.
Open CMD / Command Line and navigate to the nssm donwloaded folder (otherwise you can also use right-click + shift and ''open command line here'' to skip the navigation via cmd). Go to the folder of your supported OS, in our case with Windows Server 2012r2 it is the win64 folder.
Now type the following:

In most cases Innovaphone Voice Recording 2014 is installed on a Windows Server OS und should run as a service. Running the application as a service simplify the maintenance by restarting, logon, logoff the user or server. In other words it is the standard for such an application.

This article describes step by step how to install and configure a part of the PBX and especially the Windows Server System to run the whole recorder or http player as a service with additional audio compression to mp3.

===PBX preparation===

We start by the pbx. First of all we generate a new dummy user, who has at least "Groups/Call Forwards Only" rights. In our case the user called "_RECORDING_". We also add a new group with "active" flag, in our case called "record".

Because the Voice Recording 2014 is adjusting the recorded pcap with the cdr ticket, a working reporting must be running and for each user a reporting license is required.

In our case we use a state of the art Windows Server 2012r2 OS. Out of the box Windows Server 2012r2 do not support audio media features. Especially if you also need to run the client software "Innovaphone Player" to hear te recorded data it is strongly recommended to install the feature. So we talk about the feature "Media Foundation" which must be added to the server. For this open the "Add Roles and Feature Wizard", progress to the "Feature", scrolldown an select "Media Foundation" and complete the feature installation.

Download and install the latest version of "Innovaphone Voice Recording 2014", extract it and install it in the standard program path. After that you should have a file named "innovaphone_Recorder.exe" and "pcap2wave.exe" located in the installation directory.

Create a new directory (for example "RecordingInnovaphone\Recorder") on the local drive. Important: The name should not have any " " (blanks), otherwise later the service registration will fail. So in our case the new path is called "C:\RecordingInnovaphone\Recorder". Create now a subdirectory called "data" in this directory.
Copy now both installation files "innovaphone_Recorder.exe" and "pcap2wave.exe" (If yout want to use Audio compression to mp3 those files also should be placed here) from the program path to the new created recorder path. The data folder should be empty.

To start the setup for the recorder, it always must be started with this file. The "normal" "innovaphoneRecorder.exe" should not be touched.

Important is, that the checkbox "Save setup in own directory" must not be checked ! Other settings can be changed like you want.

===Problem Details===

Voice Recording is a application which is designed to run as user gui and not as Service. In most cases Innovaphone Voice Recording 2014 is installed on a Windows Server und should run as a service. Running the application as a service simplify the maintenance by restarting, logon, logoff the user or server. In other words it is the standard for such an application.

This article describes step by step how to install and configure a part of the PBX and especially for Windows Server Systems to run the whole recorder or http player as a service with additional audio compression to mp3.

==Installation==

===PBX preparation===

We start by the pbx. First of all we generate a new dummy user, who has at least "Groups/Call Forwards Only" rights. In our case the user called "_RECORDING_". We also add a new group with "active" flag, in our case called "record".

User who should be recorded by server should also be within the group, without "without" active flag.

Because the Voice Recording 2014 is adjusting the recorded pcap with the cdr ticket, a working reporting must be running and for each user a reporting license is needed.

===Folder and Recording preparation===

In our case we use a state of the art Windows Server 2012r2 OS. Out of the box Windows Server 2012r2 do not support audio media features. For this it is necessary to add the feature "Media Foundatio" to the server. For this open the "Add Roles and Feature Wizard", progress to the "Feature", scrolldown an select "Media Foundation" and complete the feature installation.

Download and install the latest version of "Innovaphone Voice Recording 2014", extract it and install it in the standard program path. After that you should have a file named "innovaphone_Recorder.exe" and "pcap2wave.exe" in the installation directory.

Create a new directory (for example "RecordingInnovaphone\Recorder") on the local drive. Important: The name should not have any " " (blanks), otherwise later the service registration will fail. So in our case the new path is called "C:\RecordingInnovaphone\Recorder". Create now a subdirectory called "data".
Copy now the both installation files "innovaphone_Recorder.exe" and "pcap2wave.exe" (If yout want to use Audio compression to mp3 those files also placed here) from the program path to the new created recorder path. The data folder should be empty.

Write now a new batch-file named "open_setup_recorder.bat". And fill it with the follow line: "innovaphone_Recorder.exe recpath=C:\RecordingInnovaphone\Recorder\data\".
As described above the "recpath" should not have any blanks inside the path, belive me it will not work later. This batch-file will be also later important if you have to change settings ot other things. Setup for the recorder will always be started with this file. The "normal" "innovaphoneRecorder.exe" should not be touched.

Double klick the created batch.file "open_setup_recorder.bat". First time it can take a while, anyway you should see after a short time Setup Window.

Important is, that the checkbox "Save setup in own directory" must no be checked ! Other settings can be changed like you want.

PBX and Credentials which we define in "PBX preparation" should be enterred here.

As described above a reporting must be used.

Enter here the path to the pcap files. This should be the path where, for example the phone or gateway, is recording to.

After you finish all settings in your recorder, push the button "Save+Stop!" and start the batch-file again. Controll if all LED on the gui are green.

===Service instance===
Download the NSSM (Non sucking service manager ), i know strange name..
Extract it and save it in a destination of your choice. NSSM is not a programm which needs to be installed, more a tool to create new services.
Open CMD / Command Line and navigate to the nssm donwloaded folder (Otherwise you can also use rightklick + shift and "open command line here" to skip the navigation via cmd). Go to the folder of your supported OS, in our case with Windows Server 2012r2 it is the win46 folder.
Now tipp the following:

nssm.exe install „Innovaphone DOKU Recorder“

"DOKU Recorder" is the name of the service should have.

Now the dialog windows from nssm is opening. Here a short description for each field.

The innovaphone Linux Application Platform permits to install innovaphone or custom applications for certain purposes, like Reporting or a Fax Server. 
It also allows to backup/restore configuration files, uninstall applications or see and backup logs. 
 
The Linux distribution Debian 7.1 (Wheezy) is used and linux kernel is 3.4.10 (IPxx10) and 3.2.0.4 (VM) 
 
The architecture of the platform is armel. 
 

==Requirements==

There are two ways to use the innovaphone Linux Application Platform:

===On an IPxx10 Gateway===
* An IP810, IP0010, IP3010 or IP6010 Gateway
* Firmware Version 10
* A compact flash card with UDMA support (minimum 8 GB)
** We recommend SanDisk Extreme with UDMA and 90 MB/s or above

===On an IPx11 Gateway===
* An IP0011, IP311, IP411, IP811 or IP3011 Gateway
* Firmware Version 11r2
* An SSD mSATA

===As a Virtual Machine===
* VMWare Player/VMWare Workstation

* Minimal Requirements for the Virtual Machine:
1vCPU ( we run 800 MHZ CPU on our IPXX10 Gateways, so similar speed or higher it's enough, nevertheless depending on the operations/load you could need more CPU speed/vCPU)

One can just login on the application web site with this access.

A configured access overrides a configured public web path to '/apps/application-name'!

====Configure mutual TLS====

If you need mutual TLS for innovaphone devices with a certificate signed by innovaphone, you can activate mutual TLS for a configurable '''port'''.

The current server certificate installed on the web server is shown here. A self signed certificate, innovaphone-linux, is installed by default. It is recommended to change it with your own certificate.

It is also possible to trust or reject other certificates.

'''Note''': Currently the LAP doesn't support the upload of a password protected certificate. As a workaround it is possible to convert the certificate with OpenSSL (on windows or Linux) to PEM format without password and upload this one.

With the following openssl command, the password protected certificate can be changed into an unprotected certificate.

===Backup===

The web server can be configured to poll a Command File URL (on a web server). 
The backup process is similar to [[Reference10:Services/Update]]. 

An alarm server can be also configured to receive alarms during an automatic backup: [[ #Alarm_Server | Alarm Server under Diagnostics ]].

At the bottom you will see a list of the current automatic backup serials from the Command File URL and the log of the last automatic backups.

===Relay Hosts===

The Application Platform contains a mail client which speaks SMTP.
The SMTP daemon (postfix) looks up by default the DNS MX record of the recipient email address. 
Relay SMTP hosts can also be configured to deliver the mails. Each relay host is related to a '''sender''' mail address or a '''sender''' mail domain. TLS is used if the host supports it.

In contrast to the innovaphone devices, that allows you to [[Reference9:IP4/General/Settings|specify the IP v4 TOS header field value]] used for voice and signalling IP packets, the MS Windows based applications like SoftwarePhone and myPBX do not have any possibility to set ToS Values on the RTP packets due restriction of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Instead to set the ToS Value in the Application the [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919203%28WS.10%29.aspx Policy-based Quality of Service (QoS)] provided by the MS Windows operating system can be used to mark the IP packets.

Usually the configuration of the Policy-based Quality of Service is done by defining a [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831689.aspx Group Policy Object (GPO) in the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC)]. This could be done for a single computer or distributed to a number of computers via the domain controller.

===Problem Details===

In contrast to the innovaphone devices, that allows you to [[Reference9:IP4/General/Settings|specify the IP v4 TOS header field value]] used for voice and signalling IP packets, the MS Windows based applications like SoftwarePhone and myPBX do not have any possibility to set ToS Values on the RTP packets due restriction of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Instead to set the ToS Value in the Application the [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919203%28WS.10%29.aspx Policy-based Quality of Service (QoS)] provided by the MS Windows operating system can be used to mark the IP packets.

Usually the configuration of the Policy-based Quality of Service is done by defining a [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831689.aspx Group Policy Object (GPO) in the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC)]. This could be done for a single computer or distributed to a number of computers via the domain controller.

In the Windows 8 and Server 2012 it is possible to use [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/scriptcenter/powershell.aspx PowerShell] to configure the values with the [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh967471.aspx Set-NetQosPolicy] Cmdlet.

The DSCP Values in the above example are default DSCP values used by innovaphone devices, according to the Wiki article [[Howto:Calculate Values for Type of Service %28ToS%29 from DiffServ or DSCP Values]]. You may change this values to meet requirements on your traffic prioritisation and routing equipment.

The GPO is stored on the local computer in the registry. The following registry export file could be used to setup QoS Values on the local computer:

The iQM Server can be started also as a service using a utility.

The advantage starting an iQM server as a service is that no user login is necessary and therefor the service can start automatically when the PC starts up.

Services have no user interface as they run “in background” and they are user independent. All files are stored in absolute directory like “c:\myiQM\” and require therefore admin rights.

From a client point of view there is no difference between having the service or normal executed version s server.

==Installing the iQM server as a service - Walkthroughs==

===First initial iQM setup===

Before starting you should have a clear idea where and how install the iQM and how a iQM server works with the setup directories.

This is also explained in the article “IQM command line arguments”. This article as well as the article “IQM_remote_control” should be read before starting.

When you install an iQM with the innovaphone installer package the iQM server is installed in a directory like this one “c:\Programms (86)\innovaphone\QueueMonitor\iQM”. You can execute the iQM from this position but also copy the iQM.exe in a simpler directory like “c:\myiQM\”; just copy the .exe in that directory. To avoid that a user start the iQM in the original path you can also remove the iQM server using the Windows control panel (Programs and Features).

iQM.exe is a self-containing software that requires no external dll or other files and can be start just clicking on it. Decide where the setup and all other parameters should be stored. In our example we decide to store all that in a sub directory where the .exe is running, so we create a directory in “c:\myiQM\data\”.

Note: If you are already operating a iQM server and want maintain all counters, logs and setup copy the entire content of the actual directory (just follow in the iQM setup the link) in this new directory.

Remember that the iQM must be started from now on with administrator rights (typical) or have in any way the right to access and modify files in the “c:\myiQM\data\” directory.

If you start the iQM server he will try first to find a setup file in your user directory, so open your setup and enter the path “c:\myiQM\data\” and stop the iQM. Starting next time the iQM will search and store the setup data in this directory.

Now run the iQM server normally and do all the setup. Then start some Agent (on the same PC or on a separate one) and test that even there anything works fine as requested.

===Installing Drivers===

You have to know your application path of your PC. The path is mostly in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 in Windows NT, but in all other OS not.

Therefore check where your path environment value is pointing. How to check this depends on your OS:

Windows 8:

• Drag the Mouse pointer to the Right bottom corner of the screen

• Click on the Search icon and type: Control Panel (in German “Systemsteuerung”)

• Click on -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced (in German “System/Erweitere Systemeinstellungen”)

• Click on Environment Variables (in German “Umgebungsvariablen”), under System Variables (in German “Sytemvariablen”), find PATH, here is the $path of your system.

Windows 7:

• Select Computer from the Start menu

• Choose System Properties from the context menu

• Click Advanced system settings > Advanced tab

• Click on Environment Variables, under System Variables, find PATH, here is the $path of your system.

For all other Systems: if you don´t know .... better give this job to expert people.

A typical application path for a “normal” Win8 PC is “c:\programms (x86)\Windows Live\Shared\”.

Check now if your system has the run-time library “msvcrt.dll”. If this dll is not on your PC download it from MS for your OS System and copy it in the directory of your path. A typical standard Windows Win8 PC has this dll in the directory “c:\windows\system32”.

Download now the actual version of “srvstart.exe”, you can find it for example in this external site:

In this site you will find also all the information stated here, so feel free to follow the original instructions; this Walkthroughs guide you with a typical iQM installation.

Srvstart will not modify the registry (apart from the registry changes due to installing the service itself) and you have to do no Registry operation.

You can use also any other software for start a user defined service, for example “srvany” from MS or NSSM (https://nssm.cc ,tested with Windows 2012r2).

Unpack the zipped file of SRVSTART and copy the files “srvstart.exe”, “srvstart.dll” and “logger.dll” in the directory of your application path.

After doing that in the directory “c:\programms (x86)\Windows Live\Shared\” must be in the files “srvstart.exe”, “srvstart.dll” and “logger.dll”

===Writing Batch Files===

We need a start-up directory, for example “C:\iQM_Start\”, but it could also be the same directory where the iQM.exe is in, so we use in our example “c:\myiQM\”.

Open a Text Editor and write this Text:

[iQM_SERVICE]
startup=C:\myIQM\iQM.exe -a -b -c iqmpath=c:\myiQM\data\

Save that file in the directory “C:\myiQM\” and call it “SRVSTART.INI”

The “[iQM_SERVICE]” is the service to call while the second line point on the application iQM and at the end you see the iQM setup path “iqmpath=c:\myiQM\data\”.
The iQM called as a service will read out this setup parameters from this directory and write logs and counters there. Therefore also in the setup we defined this directory as the working path directory of the iQM.

===Installing the service===

Now open the cmd window as an administrator of the system or, if you are logged as a user open is with the administrator rights (Win8, Windows key, type “cmd”, right click on the CMD symbol, select “execute as administrator”).

Write

srvstart.exe install iQM_SERVICE –c C:\myiQM\SRVSTART.INI

Observing the case (use for example “ –c” and not “-C”).

The first time this will require some seconds and this procedure should terminate without error messages.

Now the service is installed and can be started and stopped.

Start the service with the command

net start iQM_SERVICE

Start now the Agent, you will see that the server is on and operating.

Do not use the command “net stop iQM_SERVICE” to terminate the service. If you want to stop the iQM use the stop button on the Agent view, at least install a Agent on the server PC.

===Activating Autostart===

After the installation the service is in manual mode and will not start automatically when the PC is starting up. To set automatic start-up proceed as following:

Open or start the Task Manager and select the Tab “Services”, order the services by name and search the “iQM_Service”. Select the service and click the right mouse button, select “open services”; the MS Service panel opens. Search and select again “iQM_Service”, right Mouse click, select properties. Here you can define the manual or automatic start-up.

The following picture shows the situation on a German OS, “Dienste” = “Services”.

If you want that the service start-up automatically open the control panel (in German “Systemsteuerung”) select Services (in German “Verwaltung) and in Services (in German “Dienste”) you will find the service “iQM_SERVICE”, select and open property, select automatic start. The next time the PC starts up the service will be started automatically.

===Control and Stop the iQM service===

Once the iQM service is started you can control the status and send commands to the iQM server using a iQM agent. See relative article “remote control”.

Do never terminate the process using the task manager or similar, stop a iQM server always with the exit button on a iQM Agent. Just in this way all counters are saved correctly and the service is shut down in a controlled way. Killing the service with the task manager is for the iQM mostly like switching off the power of the PC.

If you stop the iQM serve as a service using the Exit Key in the iQM Agent the application will be safely stopped as described. Please note that the Process will reamin loadet as service. If terminated i and can be started again with the “net start iQM_SERVICE” command.

So if you have to do complicated changes in the setup or install new features feel free to stop the service using the agent as described. Once stopped just start the iQM in foreground, do all your changes and checks. Once done stop the iQM and start the service again.

===Run iQM server setup===

If you want modify the setup of the iQM server you have two options: you can stop the service, start the iQM normal and open the setup or you start the iQM server with the “setup” option. This can be done even during operation, but remember that many parameters require a restart and therefore you have to stop and restart the service.

It could be a good idea edit a bat file just for start up the iQM in the Setup mode, remember the necessary administrator rights. See also the iQM command line options article.

Also helpfully is editing a bat file for starting locally the iQM Agent. Remember that even the iQM Agent has to be started as administrator because he wills access to the iQM path. See chapter “Start a bat file with admin right” in the “iQM command line arguments” article.

Please note that running two or more iQM on the same working directory causes unpredictable results. For example one iQM could try to open a file while a second one try to delete this. In any case the “latest” will win because he will overwrite data with “his” own data. So do never run two iQM on the same directory, even if one is working on background as a service. Just in setup mode this can be done in a safe mode.
