Within the Kirk service tool it is only possible to adjust the max. ringtone volume for IP50 Handsets.

For  IP52/54 this is not possible as the ringing signal is send out in the same area where you have the loadspeaker. There is a limitation for this signal because if for any reason someone holds the handsets to her/his ear while ringing, a stronger signal could do harm.

Volume Levels for Mic and Speaker Gain can be set on the handsets too.

Applies To

This information applies to

  • IP 50
  • IP 52
  • IP 54

More Information

The volume on the handset may be perceived as too low, although the speaker level is set to maximum via the volume keys. Here is how to fix it.

System Requirements

Windows PC with serial interface

  • Kirk Service Tool
  • for download see related article
  • Programming cable
  • IP50 programming cradle (DECT Charger with 3 Pins)
  • IP52/54 programming cradle (DECT Charger with 3 Pins)
  • Y-Connector
  • Power Supply (for IP50 or IP52/54 DECT Charger)

Installation

Install the Kirk Service Tool following the instruction on the screen.

Connect the Y-connector to the docking station, the power supply and the programming cable.

Put the programming cable with the serial connector into the PC.

Plug in the power supply and insert a handset to the cradle.

Configuration

In the Kirk Tool configure the following:

  • Communication Tab
    • your COM Port
    • PP1-PP4 … for IP50 Handsets
    • PP5/40XX for IP52/54 Handsets

Put the Handset into the cradle and hit “set comport” in the Communications Tab. A Message like “PP connected” should appear in the bottom line of the Servic Tool Window.

Now go to the Gain Control Tabs, “Gain Control” for IP50 and “Gain Control 40XX” for IP52/IP54 Handsets. First read the old values from the Handset by pressing on “Read gain value” and adjust the values to your needs.

After that write them back to the Handset with pressing the “Write gain values”.

Turn the Handset off and on to re-read the new settings

Known Problems

Within the Kirk service tool raising the maximum ringtone is only possible for IP50 handsets.

For IP52/54 this is not possible as the ringing signal is send out in the same area where you have the loadspeaker. There is a limitation for this signal because if for any reason someone holds the handsets to her/his ear while ringing, a stronger signal could do harm.
