Where to install PBX Registration Licenses?

To enable a PBX on an IPxxx you need to install at least one PBX license.

To register with the PBX, one license is required per registration.

In standby mode, that is, if a standby accepts a registration on behalf of a PBX that is for some reason not available, the license required for the registration must be installed on the PBX the registration that would normally perform the registration. It does not need to be installed on the PBX acting on behalf of this PBX.

What is a registration in terms of licensing?

A PBX Registration license is required for each registration to the PBX. A user that has no registrations, does not require any registration license. However, a user with multiple registrations requires as many registrations as he has concurrent registrations. Please not that this is often the case with dynamic registration to executive, broadcast or waiting queues.

The number of concurrent calls active for a registration does not affect the required number of licenses. For example, a trunk object with a single registration may carry many calls, but will always require a single registration only. However, if there are more than one registrations on a single trunk (e.g. because there is more than one gateway serving the trunk), then it will require more registrations.
