Overview

This guide covers basic configuration and PBX parameters for Push-to-Talk (PTT) and Talkback functionality on IP17x series intercoms.

Point-to-Point Direct Talkback

PTT key

IP17x devices support Point-to-Point Direct Talkback by default, enabling instant 1-to-1 communication between two endpoints.

  • Outbound Call: (Default)
    • 1-tap PTT: Initiates a direct call. Upon answer, the receiving station's microphone is enabled while the caller's microphone remains muted.
  • During Call:
    • Press and Hold PTT: Enables local microphone and mutes far-end microphone.
    • Release PTT: Reverts microphones back to their original state.
    • 1-tap PTT: Tapping PTT on any station during an active call restores full-duplex audio for all participants.
  • End Call:
    • Hands-free (HF): Tap the hands-free key once (or twice if using a headset).

Talkback Group / Command Call

To configure group Talkback (e.g., Mooring stations), a PBX Broadcast Conference object is required.

  • BC Parameters:
    • Object Name: Must start with TB- (e.g., TB-MoorGrp) to forward TB facilities to endpoints.
    • Object Number: Target extension (e.g., #100) used to enter group call.
    • Mode: First (First caller acts as master).
    • Disconnect: Last (Keeps audio path open until all members drop off).
    • Announce: Always (Forces immediate auto-answer on destination devices).
    • Members: Only (Optional) Restricts access exclusively to group members.
    • Group: Create an active group and assign associated members.
  • Outbound:
    • Dial #100 + Hold PTT: Initiates an auto-answered group call. Microphone is active at the master station and muted at all receiving stations.
      • Note: When using a function key (speed dial), the "Prepare" feature must be enabled to retain PTT hold logic.
  • During Call: (Established)
    • Release PTT: Reverts microphones (Caller Muted, Far-end ON).
    • Hold PTT: Enables local microphone and mutes far-end microphones.
    • 1-tap PTT: Tapping PTT on any station during an active call restores full-duplex audio for all participants.
      • Note: Any station in the group can press and hold PTT to speak, and release to listen.
  • End Call:
    • Hands-free (HF): Tap the hands-free key once (or twice if using a headset).
      • Note: Only the master station can terminate the call for all participants.

LED Status Indicator

The LED provides visual status of the local microphone state:

  • During Call:
    • Solid Blue: Microphone Active (ON)
    • Flashing Blue: Microphone Muted
